Why else would you knife pleat a flounce on an enormous petticoat when you could simply gather it and be done? Oh, and that's not all the detailing yet.
Just a girl with a sewing machine and a penchant for the 18th century. Not content to make costumes for one-off special events and for swanning around at home in, I re-cut the 18th century for my modern day wardrobe.
I take the silhouette of the era and translate that into clothes I can and will wear anywhere, anytime.
Yes I wear stays! Yes I wear petticoats! Yes I wear frills and flounces and fabrics which really belong on armchairs. That's half the fun.
Welcome to the club! Insanity is the mark of a true costumer :-P

ReplyDeleteWell that's encouraging I guess, I just worry that I may never finish a garment.
ReplyDeleteBut, but, it will looks so much better with knife-pleats. So of course you have to do them! ;)
